From other postings, I see you may be intersted in Wind/Solar. My picture is of a shed in my back yard. I would be more than happy to share my experience with you.

We basically posted the same thing on the Chrysler pay back. I too want the US Gov't to use that "extra" money, to pay off it's debts.
Too bad all the money Chrylser paid back is only a drop in the ocean to the $14 Trillion the US gov't currently owes.

"I'm seriously considering both solar and wind for my personal electricity supply." I hope you do, as it will benefit you and others over time. With both, and including solar hot water heating and solar heating, along with super insulating the house, you could probably eliminate the electric bill.

"conserve and move to alternatives" It's not only that, drill here at home more ON LAND than offshore. Don't wait on the lame ass government, the automakers, etc., do what you can yourself! Every vehicle on the road can be more fuel efficient. We can all do more to reduce what we're using, using more solar [yes, it works even there, tidal, wind, hydrogen, geothermal, etc. From Bush's daddy to Obama, every administration and president could have done more; and the same with the lame ass Congress!

There sure is a lot of blame to go around today (100% pure gas article). I like the coffee part. :)
