Kentucky, Indiana move forward on Ohio River bridges project

GasBuddy Blog -- Kentucky and Indiana officials have finalized agreements that will govern the construction, financing and long-term management of the Ohio River Bridges Project, which will add two new river crossings in Louisville and rebuild downtown interchanges on both sides.

The Louisville and Southern Indiana Bridges Authority, which was created to develop a financing plan for the project, is expected to meet within the next two weeks to take action on the Development Agreement, which will delegate to the two states the Authority?s powers as necessary to deliver the project.

The agreements protect the legal and financial interests of both states, which are working together to share responsibility for construction, financing, oversight...

Too bad they're using the four-letter word: TOLL. I don't like it, but I don't live or drive in the Louisville area so it's not my problem.

Of course, if it takes more gas to drive to another bridge--or to sit in a traffic jam--then it IS a gas-price issue to you. That may be why there's one area here in Arkansas (Bella Vista, between Bentonville and the Missouri line) where a toll bypass is in the works around a clogged section of US 71.

Kentucky, Indiana move forward on Ohio River bridges project and improve the traffic flow for the local area. Two more bridges over the Ohio River with gas taxes and federal money at work! Local jobs for the work force!
Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle, Produce and ‘Drive’ vehicles with high MPG, are very safe, reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money.
The price of fuel at the pump is too high!

created a whole new Authority to design/build/finance one bridge? both states have DOT's already. make them play nice in the sandbox together.

Does that mean less miles driven due to the new connections?

If they are building them with Federal Tax money then why are they going to charge a toll. I doubt they will repay the federal money. Reserve for maintenance when it becomes needed. Sure so they can spend it on something else & complain no money later!
