U.S. June natural-gas demand jumps, says EIA

Market Watch -- U.S. demand for natural gas continued its surge, increasing by 12.2% in June from a year earlier, led by the U.S. power sector as electricity generators raised gas use by 25.4%, government data show.

Gas consumption in June of 1.85 trillion cubic feet was the highest ever for the month, according to EIA data beginning in 2001.

Gas demand from the power sector has risen year-over-year each month since October as natural gas has proved cheaper than coal amid a surge in gas supplies.

"Deliveries of natural gas to the electric power sector of 884 Bcf led the strong consumption trend, again reflecting continued displacement of coal with natural gas," the EIA said.

Much hotter-than-normal temperatures in June across the U.S. created a surge in gas demand from utilities as consumers

This is a good trend. Natural gas price is too low to sustain the industry.

Shutting down plentiful clean coal for natural gas - no wonder demand has jumped.

Use both plentiful resources.

Coal miners will be employed by exports. It will be used. Other nations will burn it much dirtier than in the USA.

Greenies care not a whit about the environment. They have a political agenda. You are not invited for dinner. You ARE dinner.

Let the greenies walk. Let them freeze. Let them go broke. Let them go first.

Green is red.

If you think this is "good" news, you just wait until you try to heat your home this winter.

I for one did not expect the price or demand for NG to be down much longer a few months back, and voiced that to many and on many posts out here. Once again, the prices for oil and gas when they're down, will not be down forever. We're on an upward trend and we'll stay there. Hopefully, they will NOT do any release from the SPR for oil, we'll be needing it once the price of gas is over $5 and $6 a gallon in the months down the road from now. Just watch and you'll see I'm right on this one as well. Probably not for at least six to 14 months before we see those prices though, but it won't be fun when they're here. Quite frankly though, they're already here at a few location in the country, especially Alaska.

Hope you ALL had a great Labor Day weekend and that you have an equally great week ahead. I couldn't get to many pages/whiteboards this year to wish everyone the best. Maybe next time or next year.
